Bhopal, Aug 1 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Ajay Vishnoi today announced various cash awards totalling up to a whopping Rs 1 crore would be presented to institutes, doctors and officials who did laudable work towards ensuring institutional delivery for bringing down maternal and infant mortality.

The scheme would get underway this month itself and be operational at the state, district and block levels.

''Following implementation of the National Rural Health Mission in this state, the government felt the need to encourage this category,'' he said here while addressing physicians after inaugurating a two-day state-level workshop being organised by his department and Gandhi Medical College.

Urging lady doctors to offer their services even in rural areas, the minister added that the workshop must contemplate on the paucity of lady physicians within rural areas in general and at primary health centres in particular.
