Raj firm on his stand about lawyers
Mumbai, Aug 1 (UNI) Maharashtra Navnirman Sena President Raj Thackeray today said he was firm about his stand not to allow lawyers to take up cases of accused in the 7/11 serial bomb blasts which killed nearly 200 people.
Mr Raj Thackeray had said at a public meeting that his party would not allow any lawyer to defend any blast accused.
His statement evoked sharp reaction from the lawyers fraternity.
However, the estranged nephew of Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray looked firm on his stand.
In an interaction with reporters after the announcement of launch of Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena, Mr Thackeray said, ''I am firm on my stand about the lawyers and I am not worried about the reaction from others.'' Raj who had headed the students wing of Shiv Sena's Bharatiya Vidyarthi Sena for more than 15 years, today announced his party's students outfit headed by Aditya Shirodkar. He also addressed a gathering of thousands of students assembled from all parts of Maharashtra.
