Premier Cypriot educational institute invites Indian students
Kolkata, Aug 01 (UNI) Nicosia-based College of Tourism and Hotel Management has tied up with a number of reputed Indian Management institutes for collaborative higher studies in Cyprus at an affordable cost.
Director of the College of Tourism and Hotel Management in Nicosia, Savvas Adamides told newsmen here today that to attract more students of tourism and hotel management courses from India, they had joined hands with the National School of Hotel Management(NSHM), the School of Indian Hotel Management and the Indian Institute of Tourism for accommodating more students.
He said as per the present arrangement the Indian students after completing the three-year courses could now apply for further two -year higher post-graduate studies in the Nicosia-based college with the scope of instant placement in foreign countries.
At present about 40 students were studying in the Cypriot college, where about 90 per cent of its 400 students came from different other countries, including the UK, China, Phillipines, Singapore, Japan, Egypt, Turkey, South Africa and Nigeria.
Claiming that the College of Tourism and Hotel Management as one of the premier institutes of higher education in Europe, Mr Adamides said in both professional and academic fields, its degrees were well recognised all across the world.
Asked more about his plan for India, Mr Adamides said as compared to other leading educational institutions elsewhere in the world the cost of studying the two-year post-graduage courses in Cyprus was much less, around 9,000 Euros (Rs 4.5 lakh) apart from some more for the boarding and lodging.
However, after the completion of the first year, every student was allowed to take up part time jobs for at least six months both for practical purposes and to part finance their courses, the College Director said adding in the wake of tremendous demand for qualified people in the hospitality industries around the globe, almost all the passed out students had found suitable jobs in various countries.
" As such we are confident that the number of Indian students in our institute would be more than 200 within the next three years," Mr Adamides said adding during the time the overall cost of higher studies would be slashed by about 30 per cent.
