NSCN on extortion spree in Arunachal's Tirap district
Itanagar, Aug 1 (UNI) NSCN militants from neighbouring Nagaland have served extortion notices to the innocent civilians in and around Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh.
According to 23 Assam Rifles stationed in the district, the cadres of both the factions of the NSCN have demanded a hefty amount of money from a minister and have also asked Rs 60,000 as extortion money from a contractor of Ranglua here.
Earlier, these cadres had brutally assaulted one Wankai Wangsu of Pumao village when he was not able to comply with their demand for food items on July 17. They had left the victim unconscious, who was later taken to a nearby hospital by the villagers, sources informed.
The sources further disclosed that the sub-divisional officer at Kanubari has also been threatened with an extotion note by these NSCN (IM).
