MP earmarks Rs 83 cr for construction of roads, bridges
Bhopal, Aug 1: The Madhya Pradesh Government has earmarked Rs 83 crore -- more than Rs 47.36 crore allocated last year -- for upgrading and constructing roads and bridges in predominantly SC areas during 2006-07.
Scheduled Castes Welfare Minister Jagdish Deora has asked the concerning officers to put up Scheduled Castes sub-plan display boards at worksites and utilise cent percent allocation within the prescribed time limit.
Under the sub-plan, Rs 20.66 crore would be spent on road construction works. Of this, Rs 4.52 crore was spent in road construction work during first quarter of this year.
Similarly, out of Rs 29.67 crore earmarked for road construction in predominantly SC areas, Rs 6.49 crore has been spent so far.
Moreover, a provision of Rs 26.64 crore had been made for construction of roads in rural areas under the NABARD scheme. Of this, Rs 4.27 crore had been spent so far. Besides, sanction of Rs 2 crore had been accorded for construction of major bridges of which Rs 43 lakh had been spent so far.
Similarly, out of Rs 3.27 crore sanctioned for bridge construction under the NABARD scheme, Rs 71 lakh had been spent.
