LS adjourned for 15 minutes as oppn agitates over paddy MSP
New Delhi, Aug 1 (UNI) Lok Sabha was adjourned for 15 minutes today as opposition members protested against the paltry increase of Rs 10 in the mininum support prices for paddy.
As soon as the house assembled in the morning, members of the BJP and the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) rushed into the well of the house raising slogans against the UPA government and terming it an ''anti-farmer government.'' Speaker Somantah Chatterjee tried in vain to make the agitating members resume their places so that the normal functioning could resume, even terming their behaviour ''irresponsible'' and ''anti-labourer and anti-farmer.'' Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi also intervened, protesting that a calling attention motion on the issue could not taken up during the Question Hour.
Members of the treasury benches tried to outdo the opposition, by counter-slogans of their own. ''Kisano pe rajniti karni band karo (Stop playing politics on farmers' issues).
