Kerala CM seeks CBI probe in Kaviyoor sex scandal

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 1 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today urged Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil to conduct a high-level CBI inquiry into the Kaviyoor sex scandal case along with the Kiliroor case.

In a letter to Mr Patil, he said that since both the case had links, Kaviyoor case, now being probed separately by CBI, should be investigated along with the Kiliroor case, involving the sexual exploitation of a minor girl, who died later.

Mr Achuthanandan made the request to the Centre, following a memorandum by Ms Savithri Antharjanam, mother of Narayanan Namboodiri, who committed suicide along with his wife Sobhana, daughter Anagha (15), Akhila (13) and his son Ajay (6), following an alleged sex scandal scam on September 27, 2004.

It was alleged that Ms Latha Nair, the main accused in the sensational Kiliroor sex scandal case, was responsbile for the suicide of Narayanan and his family.

It had also established that Ms Nair had maintained good relationship with Narayanan's family and even stayed their house safely after the Kiliroor incident came into light.

However, the CBI had not tried to investigate the relation in detail, Mr Achuthanandan said in his letter.

Ms Savithiri in her memorandum had stated that Ms Latha Nair, who is a kingpin of sex racket and trapped teenage girls and supplied to VIPs, had taken Anagha to fashion parade and also sexually expolied her after promising roles in television serials.

On the basis of the memorandum, along with the reinvestigation of the Kiliroor case, the Kaviyoor case also should be included in it, he added in the letter.
