House for all in five years is the goal: Minister

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 1 (UNI) Kerala Forest and Housing Minister Binoy Viswam today said the government's aim was to ensure a house for all in five years.

After a meeting with officials on improving the function of the Housing Board, he said the government would ensure cooperation of all sections of people, including voluntary organisations, local people, NRIs and panchayats to materialise the dream.

Mr Viswam said the future housing policy of the government would be based on this view.

He said the government would take comprehensive steps for the diversification of the board's functioning.

Though the board was once a model to other states, now it was facing serious crisis. Though its liabilities were very huge, it could go ahead and the government would give all its assistance for its revival, he added.
