Heavy rains expected in Western India: Weather Bureau

Pune, Aug 1 (UNI) The Indian Meteorological Department today forecasted very heavy rains in the next 48hrs, in the wake of a formation of a low pressure area in north Bay of Bengal.

Dr. Medha Khole, a senior official from IMD, told UNI that the formation of the low pressure area is likely to intensify and will move west and northwestwards, resulting in heavy rains in Goa, isolated places in Central Maharashtra, Konkan, and Vidarbha.

Gujarat will also witness heavy rainfall, she said. Since the previous system has moved northwards, western Rajasthan is also experiencing heavy rains, she added.
