Future recruitments of Kendriya Vidyalaya teachers state specific

New Delhi, Aug 1 (UNI) The government has decided that future recruitment of teachers in the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti schools whould be state specific and not as part of All-India cadre, the Lok Sabha was informed today.

In a written reply, Minister of State for Human Resource Develpment D Purandeswari said it had been decided that pending exercise for splitting of cadres by giving options to teachers to choose a particular cadre, the ongoing recruitment should be done on state specific basis and corrective action might be taken up by asking the prospective condidates to indicate the cadres for which they were replying and preparing cadre-wise merit list of candidates.

Vacant posts- The minister said out of 4853 vacant posts in Kendriya Vidyalayas as on June 30 this year, as many as 825 posts had been filled up ''as on date''. Filling of posts is a continuous process." Ms Purandeshwari, in response to the questioner's specific query said that posts of teachers vacant in Kendriya vidyalayas, said it was not so. ''No sir, the schools are authorised to appoint teachers on contract basis to make good any shortage in the Vidyalayas, so that teaching does not suffer.

The minister said the afternoon shifts also had regular teachers and whereever there were vacancies, teacers were appointed on contract, as it is the practice for regular shifts. The quality of education is not compromised.' Student fee- Minister of State for Human Resource Development M A A Fatmi said the Planning Commisision in its Mid-term Appraisal of the Tenth Five-year Plan had underlined the need for hike in the student fees. But the government had no proposals to introduece differential fee structure in educational institutions, the Minister added.
