Former Cong councillor, 69 others acquitted in Godhra riot case

Vadodara, Aug 1 (UNI) A fast track court yesterday acquitted former Congress councillor Manzoor Khan Pathan and 69 others, accused of indulging in rioting and arson during the post-Godhra riots, for lack of sufficient evidence.

The accused had been arrested for attacking a Harijan colony and setting on fire several houses in Junigali of Panigate area in the city.

While passing the order, Judge S Y Qadri said there was no sufficient evidence to prove the crime.
