CRPF the true sentinel of the nation: Apang
Itanagar, Aug 1 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Gegong Apang today praised the Central Reserve Police Force for its 'unstinted support' while maintaining internal security in the state and addressed them as the true sentinel of the nation.
Addressing the second raising day of the 170 battalion of the force here, Mr Apang said the battalion stationed in the state had done a commendable service in maintaining law and order in the region, guarding important installations and government offices, besides assisting police and other para military forces in counter insurgency operations.
"The force exhibits true unity and discipline in its work and they should train our police forces," the chief minister said while seeking more cooperation from the battalion in future.
"People's sentiments and requirements should be the top priority for all security forces," he added.
Addressing newsmen here, commandant of the battalion Sanjeev Roy said the battalion with seven companies, comprising 1300 personnel, had recently been inducted in the state for internal security and replaced the Indo Tibetan Border Police.
"The companies of the battalion are deployed in Papum Pare, Lower Subansiri, West Kameng and Changlang districts," he said adding, out of the seven companies, six were deployed on duty while one kept under rotational training.
Mr Roy also informed that recently funds had been sanctioned under civic action programme and the battalion would go for constructing waiting shades for commuters.
