China tops in womens artistic gymnastics in Asian meet

Surat, Aug 1 (UNI) China retained their commanding position in women's artistic gymnastics, including floor excercises, table vaulting and uneven bars, by gaining gold with 177.500 points, in the third Asian Gymnastics Championship at Deendhayal Upadhyay Indoor stadium here.

North Korea grabbed the silver by gaining 171.250 points and Japan attained the third place with 168.250 points.

In table vault, the North Koreans won the first place by defeating China and Japan. The North Koreans gained 45.250 points against the 41.950 points of China and 42.100 points of Japan.

The top individual score in the women's artistic gymnastics were won by China's Ning Hee with 59.450 points and Zhouro Zhou with 59.250 points.

In women's artistic gymnastics, India performed well by gaining seventh place among the 14 participants. Indian team comprising Rupali Haldhar, Meenakshi P, Amrita Sinha and Asmita Chitale won 130.100 points.
