Centre to provide compensation to families

Chennai, Aug 1 (UNI) The Centre is taking efforts to provide compensation to the families of 16 Indians, who perished in a fire mishap at Bahrain on July 30.

In a statement here, Union Minister of State for Law and Justice K Venkatapathy said the Centre's compensation would be in addition to the Rs two lakh provided by Tamil Nadu chief Minister M Karunanidhi.

Expressing his heartfelt condolences, he said the Centre was making all efforts to bring back the bodies and to provide best treatment to the injured.
