ATSU launches crusade against drug menace
Itanagar, Aug 1 (UNI) In its continuous crusade against the twin menace of alcohol and drugs, the All Tirap Students' Union (ATSU) took out a rally at Khonsa recently.
Tirap has the maximum number of opium consumers. It is getting worse with large number of youngsters falling into the trap of addiction. The neighbouring areas like Longding, Laju and Deomali are also the worst affected, revealed an official report.
"Of late, the youth had even started using other dangerous drugs and the problem should be immediately controlled. Apart from drugs, alcohol addiction among the youth is also on the rise. Therefore, the steps initiated by the students must be encouraged and welcomed by all," the report said.
The onus is on the youth to tackle such problems as it affects them directly and they should independently tackle the situation, the report pointed out.
The students have urged the administration and police to help them in curbing the menace, the report added.
