New Delhi, Aug 1: An 'Adventure and Leadership Park' is to be set Imphal after signing of a Momorandum Of Understanding between the Manipur government, Manipur Mountaineering Association and Delhi-based Himalayan Environment Trust.

Such a park would also be set in the national capital and two sites -- one at Vasundhara Enclave and the other at Mandawali -- offered by the Delhi Development Authority were being examined for the purpose, a statement said here today.

While the park in Manipur would be ready by September, work to set up infrastructure at the one in the capital would start once procedural formalities were complete.

Rajya Sabha MP Karan Singh from the city had agreed to allocate Rs 25 lakh for the project from his MPLAD fund. All other Delhi MPs had also agreed in principle to support the programme.

The parks would have a jogging track, challenge course, rock climbing, rappling, yoga and meditation areas.

The concept of the parks was based on the vision of late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, that was to bring adventure to the doorstep of the students in the country so that they were able to imbibe the qualities of leadership, teamwork, self-confidence, character and community services, the statement said quoting Himalayan Environment Trust Chairperson M S Kohli.

These parks were also expected to initiate and introduce a large number of youth in the country into various adventure activities, it added.
