9 die, 1 goes missing due to flood-related incidents in Kolhapur

Kolhapur, Aug 1 (UNI) Kolhapur District Guardian Minister Harshwardhan Patil today said one person has been reported missing and nine people have died in flood-related incidents in the district in the current monsoons.

Talking to reporters after visiting flood affected areas to review the situation, Mr Patil said the property damages figure will be known after the survey is conducted immediately once the flood waters reced.

Eleven villages in Shirol tehsil were affected due to the monsoon onslaught. eighteen camps have been set up here for 1,793 people are while 8,000 people have shifted to their relatives' places.

Mr Patil who is also State Marketing Minister said, the state government has sanctioned Rs 20 crore to undertake construction of roads and bridges immediately in Shirol tehsil.

The Minister said he has directed the district administration under to take necessary relief and rescue work in the affected areas.
