4 security personnel killed by JeM militants in Sriangar
Srinagar, Aug 1 (UNI) Militants of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) struck twice in the city killing four security personnel at Dalgate and Kaka Sarai today.
Official sources said militants shot at two Border Security Force (BSF) personnel from point blank range at Kaka Sarai this afternoon.
They said the security jawans died before they could be shifted to hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Head constable Ram Avtar and Constable Sanjay Kumar.
Earlier, official sources told UNI that militants shot at two CRPF jawans from a close range at Dalgate.
They said head constable Mohammad Aziz died on the spot while constable Kapil Kumar succumbed to injuries on way to hospital.
The area has been cordoned off and a massive hunt has been launched to nab the militants reponsible for the attack.
This was the first attack in the area after six tourists from Kolkata were killed in two grenade blasts on July 11.
A spokesman of JeM has claimed responsibility for both the attacks.
Police have recently claimed to have arrested two Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) commander Mudasir and Bengali. They also claimed to have smashed two modules of LeT and Hizbul Mujahideen active in the city.
