Shiv, Randhawa fnish tied 22nd at Players Championship of Europe

Alveslohe, Germany, July 31 (UNI) Shiv Kapur broke into the top 100 of the European Tour Order of Merit after firing a five-under 67 to finish tied 22nd with compatriot Jyoti Randhawa, who came up with his best performance of the week, carding a six-under 66 in the final round of the 3.6 million euro Deutsche Bank Players Championship of Europe.

Shiv, with a four-day total of 12-under 276, also strengthened his chances of earning a European Tour card for next season by rising to 100th. His total earnings in the European Tour stand at 178,811 euros and he will make the cut for next season if he manages to remain within the first 115.

Shiv's 276 was matched by Randhawa who came up with a blemish-free performance to recover from his third round form slump which pushed him to the tied 50th spot. Randhawa sank in six birdies in his best show of the tournament to make a strong finish in the event.

Sweden's Robert Karlsson took his second title of the year after a 67 which gave him an outstanding 25-under-par total of 263.

Meanwhile, Shiv -- the Volvo Masters of Asia winner -- fired six birdies against a lone bogey. He was even-par on the opening day and achieved his best result in the second round when he carded a 66 before shooting a 71 on Saturday.

The 24-year-old Indian, who made his The Open Championship debut two weeks ago, earned his spot by finishing third in The Asian International Final Qualifying.

With his impressive result in Germany, Shiv -- currently 15th on the Asian Tour's UBS Order of Merit -- has a chance to consolidate his position with his impending appearance at the World Golf Championship-Bridgestone Invitational in Ohio, United States next month.

The 7.5 million dollar event has no halfway cut, with last place offering a little over 30,000 dollars.

Randhawa is currently in 70th in the European list while Jeev Milkha Singh is in 38th position and looking good to qualify for the European Tour's season ending Volvo Masters in Spain.
