Rs 634 crores for electricity in Ladakh region
Srinagar, July 31 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir govenment has decided to construct a transmission line from Srinagar to Leh and also construct 100 Mini Hydel Projects in Ladakh region to meet the local requirment.
Replying to a question in the Legislative Council here today, Deputy Chief Minister said an amount of Rs 634 crore is being spent for laying of Srinagar-Leh Transmission Line besides construction of 100 Mini Hydel projects in Ladakh region under Prime Ministers Reconstruction Package.
In addition, it is proposed to construct 45 MW Nemo-Bazgo and 44 MW Chutak projects under the package, he said in reply to a question of P Namgyal.
He said 12 Kms Zojila Tunnel and two tourism development authorities one each at Leh and Kargil have also be developed under the package. Construction of Tunnel at Zojila will make the road all weather, which otherwise remains closed for six winter months due to heavy snowfall.
He said double laning of Srinagar-Leh road via Kargil has been taken up which he is a component of the PMs Reconstruction Package.
