Rainless day in capital, mercury rises to 36.2 Degree C
New Delhi, July 31 (UNI) It was another rainless day in the capital today, after a heavy spell of rainfall last week, with the mercury rising futher to 36.2 Degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal.
Though it was a sunny day interspersed with clouds, high speed Easterly winds continued to provide some relief from the scorching heat by maintaining a pleasant weather.
After the last week's spell, which saw the capital receive the heaviest monsoon showers in a single day on Wednesday, there has been a lull in rainfall since Friday.
More than 150 mm of rainfall was recorded in Delhi last week.
It is likely to decrease in the coming week with the enhanced rainfall belt having moved over north Chhattisgarh and neighbourhood. In the coming days, the system is likely to move further in a west-northwesterly direction. Under its influence, widespread rainfall with scattered heavy to very heavy falls is likely over Chhattisgarh and East Madhya Pradesh during the next 1-2 days.
Fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls is also likely over Vidarbha during the same period.
In Delhi, the weather office have forecast a generally cloudy sky with rain or thudershowers in few areas.
