Petition seeks K'taka Govt to frame rules of procedure in NHRC Act
Bangalore, July 31 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court today admitted a public interest litigation, seeking a direction to the State Government to frame rules of procedure to be followed by district judges in proceedings arising out of the National Human Rights Act.
The petitioner, Advocate G Ramaseshu of Tumkur, submitted that though the Government had designated district judges as judges under the provisions of the Act, the absence of rules of procedure had come in the way of progress of cases under the Act.
Contending that the Government was bound to frame the rules, the petitioner submitted that until the new rules were framed, the Government could direct the procedure under the Criminal Procedure Code to be followed in the interest of justice.
