NTPC clears Rs 8479 cr investment for power plants
New Delhi, July 31 (UNI) National Thermal Power Corporation today approved an investment of Rs 2,882.83 crore for the Farakka Super Thermal Power project - Stage III (1 X 500 MW) to be developed as a merchant power plant.
In addition, the company's board also cleared the investment approval for National Capital Power Station, Dadri - Stage II (2 X 490 MW) at an indicative estimated completed cost of Rs 5,596.40 crore.
Meanwhile, the state-owned power major, today posted an increase of 18.65 per cent in its net profit at Rs 1552.8 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2006 as compared to Rs 1308.7 crore for the corresponding period last year.
The company's total income also increased from Rs 7790.5 crore for quarter ended June 30, 2006, as against Rs 6609.5 crore for the same period last year.
