NC allege whole-sale transfer of employees in J and K

Srinagar, July 31 (UNI) The main opposition party in the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) today alleged that government employees are being transferred on ''wholesale'' affecting their work.

Raising a point of order in the Legislative Assembly when speaker Tara Chand declared the question hour close, leader of the oppposition Abdul Rahim Rather said his question on ''wholesale transfers'' of employees be deferred since the government in its reply had said that the requisite information is being gathered.

Speaker Tara Chand in his ruling said the question was not taken up so there was no question of deferring on this issue.

Mr Rather alleged that thousands of employees are being transfered, thus affecting the government work.

When Mr Rather insisted that the question be deferred, the Chief Minister intervened and said it needs more than one quintal of paper to provide full information about the transfers in the offices since 2003.

He said it was practically possible to provide the list of all employees since 2003 who were transfered as the list will run into thousands of pages.

However, on this Mr Rather said the employees are being transfered in thousands without any reason.

Later, the speaker announced the zero hour after Chief Minister said we have all the information with us about the transfer.
