Judicial custody of Rampal Maharaj, 24 others extended
Rohtak, July 31 (UNI) A local court today extended the judicial custody of controversial Rampal Maharaj and 24 other accused till August 12, in a firing case at Satlok Ashram here in which one man was killed and many injured.
Rampal and others are booked in the murder case in connection with July 12 firing at his ashram in which a Jhajjar youth was killed and over 50 other villagers injured, they were produced in the court of Judicial Magistrate, first class (JMIC) Fakhruddin, who further remanded all the 25 accused into judicial custody till August 12.
In the other case registered against Rampal Maharaj and some other persons on charges of cheating at the local civil lines police station, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Manisha Batra remanded Rampal Maharaj and four other accused, including two women, to Judicial Custody till August 11.
Earlier, Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) A K Jain dismissed the revision petition filed by the prosecution challenging an earlier order of JMIC Fakhruddin, rejecting the prosecution's plea for police remand of the accused Sant Rampal Maharaj in the cheating case.
The prosecution had sought custodial interrogation of the accused Rampal Maharaj on the plea that it was necessary for the recovery of the documents relating to the transfer of a plot of land to the Satlok Ashram headed by him.
