Jr college teachers come out in support of insulted Prof
Mumbai, July 31 (UNI) Mumbai Junior College Teachers Union (MJCTU) went on a mass casual leave followed by a demonstration to Mantralaya here today, to protest the humiliation meted out to Prof Vilas Athavale by NSUI members on June 30.
The 'morcha' began from the Wilson college at Chowpatty in South Mumbai and proceeded to Azad Maidan via Gamdevi police station.
Prof Athavale, teaching biology and in-charge of junior section in Wilson college, was forcibly taken by National Students' Union of India (NSUI) activists to Gamdevi police station on June 30, after they blackened his face and garlanded him with slippers.
NSUI had accused Prof Athavale of misbehaving with a girl in the college in August last year.
