Govt to amend law to prevent immoral trafficking of women
New Delhi, July 31 (UNI) The Immoral Traffic Prevention Act, 1956 is being amended to make it more stringent for traffickers and brothel keepers to prevent girls from sexual exploitation, the Rajya Sabha was informed today.
Minister of State for Women and Child Development Renuka Chowdhury said in reply to a question by Mr Abu Asim Azmi of Samajwadi Party that the Government has also drawn up a Plan of Action to combat trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation of women and children.
The Plan of Action consists of action points such as Prevention of Trafficking and Awareness Generation. The State Government have been requested to implement the Plan.
