Goa Carbon posts Rs 40.85 lakh profit, Pradeep Carbon Rs 416.38 cr
Panaji, July 31 (UNI) Goa Carbon Limited (GCL), the largest manufacturer of calcinated petroleum coke in the country owned by the flagship Dempo group of companies here posted Rs 40.85 lakh profit against a record of Rs 11,026.07 lakh for the year ended June 30, 2006.
The company had recorded a loss of Rs 73.76 lakh against sales of Rs 12,103.07 lakh for the 15 months period ended on June 30, 2005, a company release here today said.
At the sametime, GCL's subsidiary Pradeep Carbon Ltd (PCL) had achieved a net Rs 416.38 lakh profit against Rs 12,636.17 lakh sales for the year ended on June 30, 2006.
It had also recorded a net loss of Rs 619.84 lakh against Rs 10,487.17 lakh sales for the 15 months ended on June 30, 2005.
Reacting to the results, the group Chairman Srinivas Dempo hinted at the merger of GCL and PCL soon to achieve better results even as capacity addition and modernisation of the plants were on the anvil to meet the growing demand for the products in India and abroad.
