Goa Assembly adjourned sine die after transacting 16-days business
Panaji, July 31 (UNI) Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly Francisco Sardinha adjourned the House sine die today.
The House, in its 16 sittings, had passed 9 bills besides full budgetary demands and supplementary demands for the current fiscal. It had in its March session introduced only a vote on account budget for four months.
One of the significant rulings of the Chair was that none had the right to challenge his ruling as it would amount to contempt of the House.
He had also directed the members to ''behave'' and maintain the ''decency, dignity and decorum of the House'' to the highest standards through enlightened debates and dicussions without indulging in personal attacks on one another.
This he made when the BJP opposition described his decision to restrict coverage of the electronic media to question hour as ''undemocratic, dictatorial and partisan'' The speaker did so on the contention that the electronic media failed to restrain from covering expunged remarks and directives of the Chair even as the media resorted to giving ''biased '' coverage of the proceedings.
