Family of 7 wiped off, one detained for questioning
New Delhi, July 31 (UNI) An entire family of seven, including a couple and their five children, was wiped out in Inderlok Area of North Delhi in one of the worst incidents of mass murder in the Capital in recent times.
Om Prakash (45), who ran a small mattress factory at his 'D' Block residence in Inderlok area of Sarai Rohilla, along with his wife and five children were allegedly killed by a sharp weapon.
Their bodies were seen this morning, according to sources.
The assailants also tried to burn the bodies of Om Prakash and his wife Santosh (40) whose partially burnt bodies were found on the ground floor of their house where the mattress unit was set up, said a senior police official.
The bodies of their children -- Manju (21), Babita (15), Dolly (13), Puja (12) and Aman (7) -- were found stripped and piled on each other of the first floor of the residence where the family lived. Their throats had been slit.
Agitated colony people blocked the road and damaged two buses demanding arrest of the accused.
People also 'attacked' the house of one of the neighbours, who is said to have been nagging Om Prakash to vacate the plot he was living on, but with the timely intervention of the police the family was 'rescued', sources added.
The neighbour has also been held by the police for questioning.
Meanwhile, the case has been transferred to the Crime Branch.
