Hyderabad, Jul 31: The CPI, an ally of the ruling Congress today demanded that the Government withdraw its ''controversial'' order promulgated for implementing the third phase of reforms in 30 Public Sector Units (PSUs) and Cooperatives.
Addressing a press conference here CPI State Secretary K Narayana said his party would not keep quiet if the Government resorted to retrenchment and introduction of contract labour in a big way in profit-making PSUs like the Road Transport Corporation (RTC) and Singereni Colleries Limited on the pretext of initiating reforms.
He urged the Government to make public, the report of the Indian Insitute of Management (IIM), Bangalore which studied the working of the RTC.
Pointing out that the State was witnessing serious health problems time and again, the latest being the high incidence of Chikungunya, he said there was a need for a long-term policy for strengthening the health department by filling up all vacancies in Government Hospitals.
