Court directs to investigate corruption charges against ex MLA,

Mumbai, July 31 (UNI) A local court has directed the police to investigate a private complaint registered against Prevention of Corruption Act and cheating against two former members of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.

Complainant Abdul Aziz Jusab Patel, a building contractor, had filed the complaint during 2005 before a sessions court against the duo, according to his counsel Unnikrishnan.

The complaint was filed against Vijay N Vadattivar, former Shiv Sena MLA and supporter of Revenue Minister Narayan Rane, who resigned from the Assembly recently and Ramdas Tadas, former MLC of Maharashtra.

In the complaint, Patel said that both the accused had during 2003-2004 approached him and assured that he would be able to give repair work of old buildings in Mumbai and funds required for the said repair work would be released from MLC Fund.

In his complaint, he said that Vadattivar had been paid Rs.3.5 lakhs for allotment of work while Ramdas collected Rs. 8 lakhs from him for getting the work as commission.

Since they had failed to allot the work, the applicant demanded the return of the money in which Ramadas issued a cheque drawn on SBI for Rs. 8 lakhs which was bounced while Vadattivar issued a promisory note to return the money he had collected in cash from him.

As the applicant failed to get back the money, he approached the court praying that this was a proper case to be investigated by anti corruption bureau since the accused was a public servant at the time of the incident.
