Court directive for treatment of Shahabuddin in AIIMS

Patna, Jul 31: Patna High Court today directed the state government to provide treatment to incarcerated RJD MP Md Shahabuddin at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS), Delhi.

Hearing a criminal writ petition a single bench of the court of V N Sinha rpt V N Sinha issued the directions asking the state government to take Md Shahabuddin to AIIMS for two weeks for treatment.

The judge also asked the AIIMS management to inform the court about the health condition of the MP within two weeks.

Lodged in Siwan jail, Md Shahabuddin is suffering from severe back ache and had filed a writ petition before the court for facilitating proper treatment of his disease.

The court further said that in case of treatment beyond two weeks the trail of cases against Md Shahabuddin would be conducted through video conferencing from Delhi. Meanwhile, Home Commissioner Afzal Amanullah submitted the medical report of the MP. The team of doctors, including Dr Vijaya Prakash, Dr A K Agrawal, Dr S N Singh and Dr A K Pandey, after examining Md Shahabuddin inside the jail, had submitted their report to the government in which they had mentioned about the spinal problem he was suffering from and had suggested adequate treatment.

The matter would be heard after three weeks.
