CJM asks the sex accused to appear in court on Aug 5
Srinagar, July 31 (UNI) A local court today directed two former ministers, a senior IAS officer and three others, accused in the sex racket, to appear before the court in person on August 5.
The court gave the direction after accepting the chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against the accused today.
This is the second chargesheet filed by CBI in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Srinagar, in the sex scandal case, in which politicians, bureaucrats, senior officers of security forces and police and businessmen were involved.
The first chargesheet was filed against nine people, including former Additional Advocate General Anil Sethi, Deputy Inspector General of Border Security Force BSF), a police officer and kingpin Sabeena and her husband.
The CBI had on Saturday handed over the charge sheet in the court of Small causes (duty magistrate) in the absence of CJM who was attending the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court. The small causes judge had later directed the CBI to appear in the court of CJM today.
The accused were booked for allegedly raping and forcing a minor girl into prostitution.
However, the CJM transferred the case to Sessions court for further hearing after the CBI filed the first chargesheet.
Those who were directed to appear on August 5 in the CJM are former minister Raman Mattoo and Ghulam Ahmad Mir and Iabal Khanday, a senior IAS officer.
The alleged kigpin of the racket Sabeena and her husband Abdul Hamid were named in both the chargesheets.
The two ministers --Mattoo and Mir-- and IAS officer Khanday and the police official have been booked under section 5 of Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act, which relates to acquiring a girl for prostitution while Kawa has been booked under section 3 of the act, dealing with using a premises for prostitution.
