Boucher to skipper SAfrica in Lanka tri-series
Johannesburg, July 31 (UNI) With Test captain Ashwell Prince yet to be a certainty in the ODI squad, wicketkeeper Mark Boucher will lead South Africa in next month's tri-series in Sri Lanka, which also involves India as the third team.
Ashwell was coronated South Africa's first black captain following injuries to regular skipper Graeme Smith.
South Africa would be without the service of veteran allrounder Jacques Kallis, Justin Kemp and Charl Langeveldt -- all nursing injuries.
Off-spinner Thandi Tshabalala finds a place in the 14-member squad for the August 14-29 series, chief selector Haroon Lorgat said in a statement.
''With Ashwell not a certainty in our one-day side, we have asked Boucher to captain the team.
''With injuries to some key players, we have an opportunity to look at others as we build towards the World Cup in the West Indies next March,'' he added.
South Africa play Sri Lanka in the opening match in Colombo on August 14 and each team plays the other twice, with the top two sides reaching the final.
Squad: Mark Boucher (captain), Boeta Dippenaar, Loots Bosman, Herschelle Gibbs, AB de Villiers, Shaun Pollock, Johan van der Wath, Robin Petersen, Andrew Hall, Andre Nel, Makhaya Ntini, Ashwell Prince, Roger Telemachus, Thandi Tshabalala.
