BJP demands unemployment allowance for blind persons
New Delhi, July 31 (UNI) Dr Gyan Prakash Pilania of BJP today demanded that adequate employment opportunities should be generated for the blind persons in the country.
Speaking during special mentions in Rajya Sabha, Dr Pilania said there was hardly 1 per cent reservation for jobs for such people and there were 1.2 crore visually impaired and handicaped in the country.
He suggested that these people should be given unemployment allowance till they get a proper job.
Mr Mahendra Mohan of Samajwadi Party expressed concern over administering medicines meant for cows to a patient in Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi and demanded that a proper medicine checking mechanism should be put in place to save the lives of patients.
Mr Santosh Bagrodia of Congress demanded for scientific protection of food stocks in FCI godowns and mentioned pilferage of foodgrains from these godowns to flour mills which is meant for PDS.
Ms Pramila Bohidar of BJD stressed the need for equitable distribution of wasteland among the weaker sections of the country.
Mr Shantaram Laxman Naik of Congress demanded for elaborate regulations on property transactions in Goa by non-residents.
Ms Syeda Anwara Taimur of Congress demanded to encourage plantation of Jatropha plants in the country as it did not require any rains and could be planted in desert land also. It would help the smally time farmers.
Mr Amar Singh of Samajwadi Party asked the government to retail the old Saral form for filing income tax returns. He said that Finance Minister was planning to introduce a new 4-page form which would require an advocate to fill the same.
Mr Janardhana Poojary of Congress urged for clearance to the Kalasa and Bandura Nala Projects of Karnataka which would help meet the shortage of drinking water in some parts of the State.
Ms Prema Cariappa of Congress demanded to implement a programme for the removal of indebtedness of farmers in Karnataka and save them from committing suicides.
Dr Prabha Thakur also of Congress demanded for construction of more runways and airports in the country as sometimes, the planes had to hover in the sky for more than an hour waiting for a signal to land which resulted in wastage of fuel and hardships to the travellers.

Mr Ajay Maroo of BJP demanded for review of the policy on import of Iron Ore saying that country produced only 15 crore tonnes of Iron Ore per annum as against the requirement of 20 crore tonnes.
