Amarnath pilgrim from Punjab died toll reaches 45, since Jne 11
Srinagar, July 31 (UNI) One more Amarnath pilgrim from Punjab died at base camp Baltal last evening due to heart attack, official sources said.
With this, the total toll since the commencement of the two-month pilgrimage to the holy cave on June 11, has risen to 45. Majority of the pilgrims died due to heart failure.
According to the sources one 50-year-old Rajinder Kumar from Jalandhar, Punjab suffered a massive heart attack at Baltal, about 96 kms from here last evening.
He was immediately shifted to medical camp where he died.
So far, about 2.80 lakh pilgrims from all over the country and abroad have 'darshan' of the 'Shivlingam' in the cave shrine despite threat perception and 'icelingam' controversy.
