Yet another bandh begins tonight in Manipur
Imphal, July 30 (UNI) The Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) has called a 24-hour-general strike in Manipur beginning from today midnight to protest the killing of Paominlen Touthang and Lhunlal Haokip by Imphal West police commandos on July 26.
The KSO also threatened to call an indefinite economic blockade on the National Highways, if the government does not punish police personnel allegedly involved in the killings by August 1.
Family members of the two deceased youths have not yet taken the bodies, demanding punishment of those involved.
Meanwhile, the All Manipur Students' Union, the Centre For Organisation Research and Education and a large numbers of organisations have supported the bandh and demanded action against the police.
The Centre for Organisation Research and Education (CORE) said it was concerned about 'gun-triggering culture.' Police or law enforcing personnel should perform their duties to protect human dignity and protect human rights.
