UK's Rexam, HTW to announce JV to open can-making facility in Mumb

New Delhi, July 30 (UNI) UK-based consumer packaging company Rexam and India's Hindustan Tin Works (HTW) have agreed to enter into a joint venture to set-up a facility in Mumbai for manufacturing two-piece tin containers (Can), sources said here today.

''Hindustan Tin Works and Rexam will sign a joint venture for manufacturing two-piece tin containers, which are generally used in the packaging of beverages,'' sources in the packaging industry told UNI.

The manufacturing unit for beverage cans, which India usually imports for domestic use, will be set-up in Mumbai, sources said, and added that the companies would formally announce their tie-up on August 1, 2006.

Rexam Plc is one of the world's top five consumer packaging companies, having many big brands in its customers' list for two-piece beverage can.

Similarly, established in 1958, HTW Ltd enjoys a leading position in the metal container industry in India.
