Three crocs escape rehab centre, create panic in UP capital

Lucknow, July 30 (UNI) At least three crocodiles have escaped from a city-based rehabilitation centre, creating panic in slum clusters of the Uttar Pradesh capital along a nullah where thy have been spotted.

The three reptiles reportedly escaped a week ago and finally appeared in the Kukrail nullah in the Indira Nagar area. Wildlife authorities, along with Lucknow zoological park have been asked to capture them and bring them back to Kukrail Crocodile rehabilitation centre.

Till today, the seluths of the wildlife department could not find the ' absconding' crocodiles while the people residing at the slums near nullah were passing restless nights.

Locals living in slums adjoining the nullah alleged that the crocs have so far killed three livestock, including two cows. The area is dominated by milkmen.

Police,however, said that it was the duty of the wildlife department to catch the crocodiles and police can't help them in anyway in the case.
