Rinpoche flays rich nations for their stand on Tibet

Chandigarh, July 30 (UNI) Tibet Government in Exile Prime Minister Prof S Rinpoche today lambasted USA, China, Russia and other rich European countries for their hypocritical stand on the plight of Tibetans in exile and the question of Tibet's independence.

Prof Rinpoche, while delivering a lecture on 'Globalisation and Cultural Identity' on the fourth death anniversary of Vice President of India Krishan Kant here, said India, the land of peace, enlightenment and cultural diversity can offer the solution to the world to this problem.

Prof Rinpoche said the Tibetans living in exile still follow the principles of partyless democracy as advocated by Jai Prakash Narain and Achyut Patawardhan.

He said in multi-party democratic system, the party's interest should never over-ride the national interests. The party's ideologies, unfortunately indoctrinate people into believing in the narrow considerations of caste, race, communalism and religion at the expense of the national values and interests. This is, Prof Rinpoche said, a major flaw in the multi-party system at present.

''True globalization will be a reality only when true democracy prevails or is allowed to prevail in the world, ''he said.

Prof Rinpoche accused the USA of encouraging the anti-democratic, subversive extremist outfits in differents parts of the world, while posing as a protector of world peace. Unfortunately, only economic globalization is considered as the meaning of true globlization, he emhasized.

Commenting on the Chinese experiments with communism, Prof Rinpoche called the Chinese system a totalitarian regime, which oppresses people's freedom and voices ruthlessly.

Criticising the inhumane policies of globalization, Prof Rinpoche highlighted how USA, Russia, China, England, France and other rich countries multiply their production and distribution of war weapons for destruction of humanity.
