Rare copper iridium coin seized

Visakhapatnam, July 30 (UNI) The police picked up three international smugglers from Mumbai and seized a copper iridium coin dating 1616 AD whose value is expected to be 'phenomenal'.

Police here today said the coin, made by the East India Company, was a hard white metal belonging to the platinum group.

However, international experts have to certify its exact value.

The coin was bought by one Tirupati Rao of Jeypore who rented a house at Prahlaapuram, near Simhachalam.

He and his friend Dilip Acharya were looking for a prospective client when they were picked up.

The police also picked up Tawa, a Tibetan expert from Mysore, claiming to represent a UK-based Compnay.
