Punjab offers concessions to Tata group
Jalandhar, July 30 (UNI) Punjab has offered tax rebates and other relaxations to the Tata Group of Industries -- at par with those offered by Himachal Pradesh -- for setting up its truck manufacturing unit, state's Finance Minister Surinder Singla said here today.
Talking to reporters here, Mr Singla said the group was considering to set up its truck manufacturing unit and Punjab was also being considered as an ideal destination alongwith neighbouring Himachal Pradesh.
Earlier, the company was exploring feasibility of setting up a car manufacturing unit in the state but later the project was shifted to West Bengal.
The Finance Minister expressed satisfaction over the state government's ongoing efforts for speeding up industrialisation in the state.
Mr Singla was in the town to participate in a function organised by the Ram Navami Mahotsav Committee to felicitate people and organisations involved in organising the Ram Navami function in the city.
