Police launchs drive to arrest SIMI activists

Jabalpur, July 30 (UNI) Police today launched a special drive to arrest Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) activists in the wake of 7/11 Mumbal serial blasts that claimed about 200 lives.

Additional Superintendet of Police Manohar Singh Verma said a planned drive was launched to arrest SIMI activists on information about their presence in the town's Gohalpur and Hanumantal areas.

However, he refused to divulge details of number of arrest saying the exact number arrests would be known late in the night. Several people were being interrogated in this connection.

Police sources said arrests were being carried out in several districts after interrogation of SIMI activist Imran Ansari, who was arrested after the Mumbai blasts.

Sources said five SIMI activists had been arrested so far, while drive was being carried for arresting others.
