Munda should visit blocks not overseas: Sahay

Jamshedpur, Jul 30 (UNI) Minister of state for Food Processing and Senior Congress leader Subbodh Kant Sahay lambasted the Arjun Munda government in Jharkhand saying the rural people in the state had lost faith in the state government as it failed to resolve the displacement issue.

Talking to newspersons on the sidelines during the inauguration of Netaji Subhash Institue of Business Management at Pokhari near here yesterday, the minister said without declaring a comprehensive rehabilitation policy and taking the villagers, who give their land for industries, into confidence setting up of industries would be a distant dream in Jharkhand.

He said it seemed that the government did not do proper homework before singning the series of MoUs with number of industries including the Steel giant Mittal Steel and Tata Steel.

Mr Sahay said if the villagers get proper compensation under the rehabiliation policy they would defintely provide their land for the industries.

When pointed out the chief minister's frequent foreign tours and its impact on the state's progress the Congress leader obliquely said ''Mr Munda should concentrate more in the rural areas and visit the blocks instead of touring foreign countries.'' He said the lack of seriousness on the part of the government about acquisition of land and providing other infrastructural facilities to the prospective investors like Mittal and Tatas, the industrialists had threatned to leave the state.

The investors were disenchanted with the lackadaisical attitue of the government, Mr Sahay said.

He said it would be a great set back to the BJP-led government in the state if the Mittal would decide to pack up from the state.
