Mizoram Congress promises to bring in CBI
Aizawl, Jul 30 (UNI) Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee president Lalthanhawla made a promise to his partymen to bring in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe into any case as soon as the Congress is in power.
Speaking to block leaders at the Congress Bhavan here, Lalthanhawla said Mizoram is the only state where the CBI had not been called in and attributed this to the 'cowadice' of the present ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) leaders.
"Mizoram is the only state where the CBI cannot make its presence felt. The main reason behind this is that the current chief minister Zoramthanga and his cronies are afraid that this organisation would annihilate them," Hawla said.
"We will invite the CBI to conduct investigations in Mizoram as soon as we get back into power because it is our aim to eradicate corruption," he aded.
Mr Hawla also pointed out that ringing the bell of freedom for the poverty-stricken would also be the first job of the Congress government.
Other Congress leaders such as R Lalzirliana and Lalrinliana Sailo, both legislators, also speaking on the occasion attacked the MNF government calling it 'corrupt and far below the expectations of the people'.
