Meeting of the Octroi Abolition Committee on August 3
Mumbai, July 30 (UNI) Maharashtra Octroi Abolition Committee has launched a state wide agitation against existing Octroi levy in Maharashtra and it will hold a meeting here among traders on August 3.
The Octroi Abolition Committee has received overwhelming response from trade, industry, transport, farmers and consumer Associations throughout Maharashtra.
The leaders of Octroi Abolition Committee and members of various associations had also gone on an indefinite hunger strike on April third 2006 . After assurance from Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, the hunger strike was called off on April 5, Octroi Abolition Committee president E K Thakur told UNI here yesterday.
Now to take stock of the situation, the progress of the movement and for important decisions, we have called a meeting at 1300 hrs on 3rd August at the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, Fort in South Mumbai.
Octroi Abolition Committee president Mr E K Thakur, MACCIA president Mr Hemant Rathi, FAM president Mr Mohan Gurnani, IMC Mr Surendra Sawai, Transport Association's Mr Prakash Gawli, Mr Satyanarayan Lahoti, Mr Walchand Sancheti, FAM vice-president Mr Mohommad Ali Patel and members of the all associations from Maharashtra are expected to the present for the meet.
