Jaswant's book does not contain name of informant: BJP
New Delhi, July 30 (UNI) Clarifying that senior BJP leader Jaswant Singh's book 'A call to honour' does not contain the name of the ''mole'' in PMO during P V Narasimha Rao's tenure, the party today said the former External Affairs Minister drew his conclusions about the ''alleged informant'' from a letter he had received when he was in Opposition.
According to party sources, though Mr Singh has not revealed the name of the alleged informant in the book, in his interactions with newspersons he had maintained that the suspected person was a civil servant in the PMO during Narasimha Rao's regime.
The letter, which Mr Singh had received, had purpotedly said someone in the PMO was passing on sensitive information to the US regarding the country's intention to conduct nuclear tests.
Mr Singh recently shot off the unabridged version of the letter in his possession to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh after the latter dared him to reveal the name of the alleged informant.
Notably, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today rubbished Mr Jaswant Singh's claim that the name of the informant and all other details had been given to him.
The PM also faulted Jaswant Singh for not disclosing the issue to the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee under whom he was a minister.
