Israel says told residents of bombed village to leave

JERUSALEM, July 30 (Reuters) Israel's military said it had warned residents of a southern Lebanon village that was bombed today to leave and said Hizbollah bore responsibility for using it to fire rockets at the Jewish state.

An Israeli air strike on the village of Qana killed at least 35 civilians, including 21 children, witnesses and rescue workers said.

''This is a village from which Hizbollah has launched missiles at Nahariya and the Galilee region,'' said army spokesman Captain Jacob Dallal.

''Residents of this village were warned several days ago to leave, that this was an area of combat ... The reason we attacked was that Hizbollah was firing from there and therefore Hizbollah bears the responsibility in this village.'' REUTERS SP KN1208
