Inter-state criminals arrested
Ludhiana, July 30 (UNI) The Punjab Police cracked an inter-state criminal gang with the arrest of five of its members who had allegedly committed ten murders of taxi drivers in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh.
Identified as Amandeep Singh Sonu, Lakhwinder Singh Dhoni, Shamsher Singh, Balbir Singh and Gurmel Singh, they were arrested early yesterday morning in the city while travelling in car which they had snatched from its owner, SSP Amardeep Singh Rai told reporters here.
These criminals used to hire taxi and then kill the taxi driver on way and flee with their vehicles, police said.
Police recovered two pistols and sme sharp edged weapons from their possession during the arrest.
